TEAM Misr role in Woman empowerment

TEAM Misr role in Woman empowerment and employment in Egypt is dated back to 1993, Since then, We have established the Arab Center for Women in Development.

 

This center aims at developing woman’s capabilities and empowering her role in economic, social and cultural developmental processes in the Arab World with special emphasis on the following services:

  • Women in Development & Gender Equity.
  • Women in Management & SMEs.
  • Gender Equity in industrial Firms.
  • Gender mainstreaming in development.

 

Following the gender equity perspective, In 2013, TEAM Misr developed an ethical code of conduct to emphasis this equality, honesty, integrity and obligations fulfillment. Our ethical code of conduct is adopted by our staff, partners and any collaborating  firms and staff.

TEAM Misr concern regarding Gender Equity is evident in the women presence in TEAM Misr Board of Director, General Assembly and employment. Our profile on Gender Equity can be summarized in the following:-

  • Percentage of employed women in TEAM Misr constitutes 32% of total number of employees.
  • 30% in executive and Senior position are women.
  • 33% of the shareholders are Women .

Our most prominent projects we carried out to empower women were:

  • PROJECT:  TECHNICAL ADVISOR TO CERTIFY EGYPTIAN PRIVATE FIRMS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH GENDER EQUITY STANDARDS “ONE BUSINESS COMMUNITY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY INITIATIVE”

TEAM Misr qualified 10 private and public sector companies for a gender equity seal aiming to Gender mainstreaming. i.e to support women’s rights through compliance and implementation of the model which tackles recruitment, training , career development and sexual  harassment  prevention.

To ensure the sustainability of the gender mainstreaming in the companies, gender equity committees were established and gender equity coordinators were appointed to be responsible to implement the system. In addition, an M&E system was developed to sustain this equity, model.

 

 

Project:  EVALUATION OF COMMUNITY BASED EDUCATION PROJECT FOR GIRLS AND OUT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN

A Capacity Building plan was developed for the community based Education Sector and  a technical assistance plan was developed to support the Ministry of Education & its agencies.

 

Project: SURVEYING AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS TRAINING FOR GIRLS TEACHING INITIATIVE IN SEVEN GOVERNORATES IN ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT

 

Client: National Council For Motherhood And Childhood

  • To achieve equality among girls & boys in basic education by the end of 2005.
  • To develop education process and achieve equality from a gender perspective in basic education by the beginning of 2015.
  • To narrow the gender gap by 2007.
  • To secure 18500 job opportunities for girls.

  • TEAM Misr conducted a Strategic Study for Small Enterprises in Qena, besides,5 feasibility studies for Women Small enterprises.

Our efforts for women empowerment were not only in Egypt but also in other Arab Countries.

 WORKSHOP ON PROSPECTIVE VISION OF THE PALESTINIAN WOMAN’S ROLE IN THE POST INDEPENDENCE ERA, 1993.

      Funded by The Dutch Embassy and Dutch Aid Agency

 

The objective of the projects were mainly to qualify and empower mainly female Qatari Nationals.

Finally, in 2007 TEAM Misr was selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian  technical fund foe countries technical cooperation with common Wealth, Islamic and European Countries to train business women from Kazakhstan on entreneurship development and management of SMEs.
